Seraphs are the lower angels, servants of the Seraphim. Anhur created them, mainly as guardians, but his siblings quickly began repurposing them. They are different in many ways from nephils, the nephilim "equivalent:" they were created with the specific purpose of serving the Seraphim and they are able to fall.
Seraphs are separated into four distinct groups, three of which are each associated with a single Seraphim, while the last, the Messengers, are associated with all. Each variety has a few important individual seraphs, along with a host of others.
Guardians: The best-known variety of seraphs, guardian angels are generally considered angels of healing and protection. After Asar took a third of the angels and made an army, Iset chose another third and specified them for this purpose. The most notable examples are the Archangel Raphael, Cassiel (angel of tears), and Azriel (angel of comfort, fallen).
Sons of Light: The angels taken by Asar, the Sons of Light were made into an army to do battle against demons and the Nephilim. The most notable examples are the Archangel Michael, Dumiel (angle of vindication), and Nuriel (the hail-bringer, fallen).
Reapers: The angels of death, Anhur took charge of them when the humans grew too populace; however, his siblings frequently use them, which frustrates him. The most notable examples are the Archangel Uriel, Samael (angel of lost souls), Kushiel (angel of punishment), and Adriel (angel of destruction, fallen).
Messengers: Any seraph can act as a messenger, but some are specifically kept available for that. They grant vision to transcendents and mundanes, and occasionally speak to them directly. Some notable examples include the Archangel Gabriel and Barachiel (angel of whispers).
The Grigori are fallen angels, whose wings have been stripped. They are also marked with curse marks, visible to all beings, which warn the beings away. Some Grigori are able to project their allure past the marks, while others are found repulsive by everyone around them. Immediately after their fall, they are still in full possession of all their powers, but those powers fade over time.
Some angels adapt well to mundane life, while others seek out other transcendents. At least two have become Sources.
